Chad was invited to attend a seminar for work that took place in Puerto Rico to which Sarah was offered to travel to as well. He had gone ring shopping the week before they left and after figuring out his plan, his mother had suggested that he propose on March 1st for an easy day to remember.
The day before they left, the couple spent the night with Sarah’s parents so that they could drop their dogs off to be watched while they were away.
While Chad studied in his classes, Sarah walked the beach and took photos.
One night they went to Chile’s with the people that were putting on the seminar. When they returned, Chad asked Sarah if she would like to go for a walk on the beach. During their entire walk, Chad’s hand remained in his cargo pocket. It was very dark and there was not much light on the beach so they decided to sit on the lounge chairs aside the pool.
While they were seated, Sarah asked Chad to hold her and he then pulled out the ring and slid it on her finger. She looked at him with surprise and asked, “Are you serious” and he replied, “Yes, will you marry me?”
Immediately afterwards they went back into the hotel to share the news with the other attendees and attempted to reach both parents which did not answer. They drafted an email telling the story and sent it off. The next morning Sarah spoke with her mother who told her of the happy tears that she shed while reading it and Sarah’s father told her that he wished he could have told her mother as Chad had asked for her hand in marriage before they left.
